Hello, friends! I am back from my week of vacation and so very excited to show you all my favorites from this past month. I’ve been trying to slowly but surely change my skincare routine to more natural products. I’ve decided to start ditching the harsh chemicals I have been using and be a little kinder to my skin. While I haven’t made the full jump, I can already see the progress (a little tan doesn’t hurt, either). This month I went traveling, worked my butt off, and read like no other. Here’s what I have been loving this month! x
The Eight Five Nine Boutique Girl gang tee- I have become obsessed with over-sized tees once again. I love, love, love tucking them into cute pants or a skirt to make them look less sloppy. My inspiration? Zoella, of course. This tee is from a super cute boutique that just opened their little storefront. It’s NKY local and the owner is the essence of southern charm. Go check them out online or in person! The Eight Five Nine Boutique has never-ending cute pieces.
Circular crossbody bag from Target- Like the fanny pack below, this purse has been great for nights/days when I just cannot carry around my giant bag. My bag literally knocks people over on a regular basis so when I am going to a concert, market, or busy place, this purse helps to keep me from knocking over everyone around me. (It’s also super cute.) This exact purse is currently unavailable online but here is a similar bag.
521s Fanny Pack- Yes, you read that right. One of my favorite things this month was this super cute fanny pack. I am usually a big purse kind of girl but that won’t do when you’re adventuring in a foreign country (or even taking a hike, going to a theme park, etc.). There are a couple things I always need on me that won’t fit in my pockets. Carrying a backpack can be super annoying and also really bad for your back so I needed a solution… the fanny pack. This was absolutely amazing to have on me in Mexico and I 100% recommend it to everyone. This brand is super cute and can fit a good amount of stuff inside. You need a fanny pack for all of your summer adventures.
Mickey Mouse tee from Target- Once again with the big tee trend… (told y’all). I found this is Target’s new Mickey Mouse section and it was so cute and so comfy, I could not resist. I had a really hard time not wearing this every single day and night. They no longer sell the style shirt I have, but they have so many other super cute options online and in stores!
Jersey Knit Sleeveless Swing Dress from Old Navy in Black Geo- This was a dress I bought for Mexico not really realizing how much I was going to love it. This dress is comfy and cute, my favorite combination. It’s such a great summer dress and would also be perfect for early fall/late spring with a jacket thrown over it. It’s currently on sale for almost 50% off!
MyPlate app- Throughout the past year, I have gained a lot of weight. My pants no longer fit me and I just felt super uncomfortable in my own skin. I tried everything. Counting calories, eating less, working out 4-5 days a week, pills… nothing was helping. I would sit and cry about how bad it hurt to button up my pants and how I hated the skin I was in. But this app actually changed everything and I was able to lose 9 pounds (and still counting) in three months WITHOUT starving. This app helps you count your fat, water, carb, and protein intake and tells you the exact amount you should be having every day. By watching what’s in my food, I was able to lose weight and never go hungry.
it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ cream- I was looking for a super lightweight foundation for not only my vacation but also for the rest of the summer. I do my research before I invest in products and now I understand why it got such good reviews. It provided almost the same amount of coverage as a regular foundation without feeling like I was wearing anything at all. It also has 50 SPF! I am using the travel size and I think it is more than enough to last 1-2 months. If you are looking for summer makeup or you just like it on the lighter side, I highly recommend this.
it Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout concealer- As you all know, acne is by far my biggest struggle and insecurity. The older I get, the more irritated I am that I still have it. I’ve been wanting to get a concealer with better coverage so I don’t have to wear as much makeup. When I saw this product, I almost handed my credit card over right away. This concealer is also a drying lotion. Not only is it hiding your acne, but it’s working all day to remove the oils! This product genuinely works and will forever be in my makeup drawer.
Burt’s Bees Brightening Moisturizing Cream- This product is the beginning of a more “all natural” skincare routine. I’ve heard this product is great for people with acne and acne scars. It works to brighten and moisturize your skin without trapping the oils and dirt underneath. So far, I am loving it! I constantly feel hydrated without feeling sticky. Plus, it smells like sunscreen… perfect for the summer.
Schmidts Rose and Vanilla deodorant- I’ve recently learned how bad aluminum in deodorant is and I decided to make the switch to (mostly) natural deodorant. I think this deodorant smells amazing but my best friend (who also wears it) thinks it smells like a grandma so approach at risk. I’ve had 0 body odor since using this. I hope everyone looks into the dangers of aluminum and start to make the switch!
Bath and Body Works Blackberry and Basil body wash- This is a scent combination I would never think would work… but it is one of my favorite smells. It’s such a perfect summer scent and super moisturizing. I haven’t really needed to put lotion on my legs after shaving because I use this and a loofa to buff them out instead. The best part? It’s STILL a part of the semi-annual sale.
Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist- This is a product I knew I would have to have to protect my skin from the Mexican sun. I was super pale before this vacation and thanks to this spray (it has 50 SPF), I did not burn my face once and still managed to get a tan. I wore it even when I didn’t wear makeup because the application was so easy and light. It helped protect my skin without the heaviness of normal sunscreen. We should always be wearing SPF on our face to help protect us from sun damage and this is such a good way to do it.
Not Your Mothers Sea Salt Spray- I have lived by this product for years, but now that it’s officially summer, I need it more than ever. My curls in the summer turn into a giant, tangly, frizzy mess without this spray. After every shower, I spritz this through my wet hair and my curls return back to normal with minimal frizz. It is an absolute life-saver.
Not Your Mothers Tapioca Dry Shampoo (Warm Sugar)- I play with my hair too much not to invest in a good dry shampoo. Your scalp is a lot like your face and can also be oily, dry, or combination. The top of my head is often oily, while the back is often dry, making it itchy and gross after just one day. In order not to wash my hair every day, I have to use dry shampoo. Not only does this dry shampoo work and give me great support without feeling thick or crunchy, but it smells aaaaamazing. Every time I spray this in my hair, I get compliments about how good I smell. Did I mention this one is under $10? You’re welcome.
Opal House matches from Target- This has been one of those “little things” in life that just makes you extra happy for no reason at all. Who knew having a box of cute matches could make a girl so happy!? They are not sold online but can be found in stores where the Opal House collection is!
“Energy” oils blend- I am lucky enough to be able to work from home/work on personal projects two out of the five work days a week this summer. Whenever I am working from home, I always need a little extra motivation to not get distracted by the things around me. This blend has helped me stay alert and passionate about what I’m working on (well, this and a cup of coffee). Here is the blend I use: orange, peppermint, and eucalyptus. Enjoy!
My little “next up” book space- I’ve been dreaming about this little space since I got my bookshelf and it just took me a really long time to get to this point. I am always reading and I always have one (or 6) books on deck. This was a perfect (and cheap) way for me to display the next books I want to read and I just adore it. Here is the link to the placeholder!
Adamant by Lisa Bevere– I’ve written a lot about Lisa’s previous book, Without Rival, on this blog. Whether it’s just a quick bit of inspiration or an entire blog post. This book actually captivated me and held my attention in an even deeper way than Without Rival did. There is just so much truth and realness in this book that everyone (Christian or not) needs to hear. Everyone should read this book.
Coco- Okay, I was obviously preparing all month for my trip to Mexico by watching this movie and listening to the soundtrack over and over again. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, it’s on Netflix and you need to. Pixar did a wonderful job of capturing the Mexican culture and I just simply adore this movie. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll gasp. When has Pixar ever lead to astray?
Incredibles II- We have all waited 14 (or more?) years for this movie and it did not disappoint. I will not say anything to spoil it for people who have yet to see it. But if you haven’t, what are you doing!? Go and see this movie right now.
Thanks so much for tuning in to this month’s favorites! Regular posting is back and I can’t wait to keep sharing the good things in life with you all. See you on Friday! x
